Bogota

Lois Elaine Delaney Mitchell, passed away on the morning of Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ.

She was born on Saturday, June 13, 1964 at Christ Hospital in Jersey City, NJ.  Lois attended grammar school at St. Anastasia's in Teaneck, NJ and St. Cecilia's in Englewood, NJ. She attended Lyons Institute and graduated as a Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist.

Lois' fondest memories were made during her high school days at Saints, where she met her high school sweetheart and life partner, John. She was captain of the cheerleading squad and a proud graduate of the "Crush Crew '82". Lois looked forward to summers down at the beach in Belmar, NJ where she spent many of her years making lifelong memories with childhood friends, and family.

Lois had a heart of gold; "as big as Texas", a smile that would light up the room.  She was predictably unpredictable.  A straight shooter. Described as someone who loved without conviction and pulled no punches. She was a passionate and devoted mother who weathered every storm. She was as loyal as they come.  She was a proud and loving grandmother to both grandkids who loved her like a second mother.

Beloved Wife to John G. Mitchell, Councilman of Bogota, NJ.  Devoted Mother to Kerianne Mitchell, John G. Mitchell Jr. (2020) and Joseph Mitchell.  Dear Sister to Nancy (Steve) Bueschen and Beverly (Dan) DeSeno.  Loving Grandmother to Blair Francis Mitchell and Javier Mitchell Diaz.  Proud Aunt of several nieces and nephews. Survived by her mother-in-law, Nancy Mitchell, her sister-in-laws Anne Marie Mitchell and Eileen Grimes, and brothers-in-law, Joe, Jimmy and Thomas Mitchell.

Predeceased by her beloved son, John G. Mitchell Jr. (06/2020), her parents Captain John Delaney (06/2003) and Dolores Epple Delaney (07/2013) and her father-in-law Joseph Mitchell (12/2007).

Viewing will take place at Petrik Funeral Home in Bogota, NJ on Wednesday, January 17 from 2-4pm & 7-9pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, January 18 at 10am at St. Joseph's Church in Bogota, NJ.  Burial at George Washington Memorial in Paramus, NJ to follow.
