Louise M. Davis, PhD (nee:Mazza) of Pompton Plains formerly Teaneck passed away on October 1, 2017. Louise was a loving parishioner of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church where she funded then mural restoration above the altar. Beloved wife of the late Lon Thomas Davis Jr. Devoted mother of Lon Thomas Davis III and his wife Beth and Toni Ann Mehler and her husband George. Cherished grandmother of Christopher and Casey Mehler, Scott and Dawn Simm (nee:Davis) and great grandmother of Kaylee, Brianna and Nicholas Davis. Predeceased by her brother Anthony Mazza. While doing some teaching and Special Education work in Teaneck, NJ with special needs kids during the day she attended William Paterson University for her Bachelor’s Degree at night. She went on to earn her Masters and then accomplishing her goal of PhD from Fordham University. She was a School Psychologist. She also became head of the Child Study Team in Wood-Ridge School System and was acting School Superintendent at one point. She started her own Marriage & Family Counseling practice in the evenings while still working. She was kind and helpful to everyone and made a difference in thousands of lives, mostly children. Visiting at Petrik Funeral Home, 140 Palisade Ave., Bogota on Wednesday from 4-8 PM. All will meet at the funeral home on Thursday at 10 AM for the Funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, Bogota at 11 AM. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers donations to your favorite no kill animal shelter or Susan G. Komen (www.komen.org) would be appreciated.
