Nancy T. Mitchell

It is with great sadness that the family of Nancy T. Mitchell of Bogota, New Jersey announce her peaceful passing on June 18, 2025. Nancy will be remembered for her humor, wisdom, and love of family. She was born to Eileen and James Duffy and raised in Inwood, New York, the oldest child of five sisters. Nancy met her beloved husband Joe at Gaelic Park and they were married for 51 years. Together they had six children and were very involved in the Irish Culture. Nancy never forgot her Irish roots and made sure her family was proud of where they came from. She passed alongher love of Irish music, Irish dancing, and her being a devout Irish Catholic. Nancy was devout to her prayers and rosary.

Nancy worked at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office for 33 years as a Court Stenographer in the Trial Section. She thoroughly enjoyed working there and was her second family.

Nancy was a devoted mother to Anne Marie, Eileen Grimes, Joseph (Lesley), James, Johnny, and Thomas (Sylvia), and many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, sisters, Eileen Hennessy and Sheila Brinkmoeller, and sister in laws, Mary Alice McCormack, Margaret Donnelly, Anne Kenny and Agnes Bonano, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Joe, her parents, Eileen and James, her sisters, Rose Conforti and Patricia Duffy, her nephew, John Mitchell and daughter-in-law, Lois Mitchell.

Visitation will be held at Petrik Funeral Home, 140 Palisade Avenue, Bogota, NJ from 3-8 PM on Tuesday, June 24. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 25, at St. Joseph’s Church in Bogota, NJ. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Tenafly, NJ.
