MOMMY’S GOING HOME OBITUARY

PANSY GROSSMAN   was born in Manhattan New York to the parents of Vernon & Elizabeth Young. She was the Oldest of 3 Daughters, Faith James & Veona Thomas, whom have both passed on. My Mom had a very productive & full life. She had completed High School & completed 2 years of college. Some years later she met my Dad PHARES GROSSMAN & within a few years they married & moved to New Jersey.

My mom had many different jobs. One of those jobs she had a security clearance ( She like talking about that job LOL ). Her next job would be working for a Newspaper, The Bergen Evening Record. She was a secretary & proof reader. She would be with the Newspaper until she retired some 30 plus years later !  My Mom was never one to just sit on her hands & while still working for the Newspaper she wanted to do more to better take care of her family.

My mom had a very Entrepreneurial Spirit, she went to Beautician’s school & received her License to cut hair. Soon after bought & opened her Barber Shop “ Pansy the Barber “  on Teaneck Road. This was in 1969.   She had the shop for a number of years. While still working for the Newspaper she still made time for myself & my brother Michael. We never wanted for anything !  We had the best Life !!

My mom & Dad had Divorced some years before. Still, my Mom was always focused & wouldn’t let anything stop her once she made up Her mind !  She then decided to open a Liquor store. “ MAGNIFICENT WINES & LIQUORS. “  she opened her store in the mid ‘80’s .  She would close the store some years later.   Still wanting to remain active  she joined her Block Association & later worked for the Township of Teaneck on the Election Polls, there she would be working well into her ‘90’s.

Of the many things I will remember & keep close about my Mom is Life Lessons & Wisdom she would continue to give me !  My Mother was kind, Loving, Understanding. She was never afraid to speak her mind & tell people what She was thinking & how she felt about Everything !!

I once asked my Mother  as her illness progressed, “ Are you afraid to die ? “  She paused a moment & said in a clear voice “ NO ! “  She then thanked me for all I’ve done for Her… She thanked me !?   I’ve always said to Her “ All those years that you took care of Me, It’s my Turn to take care of YOU !!

My mom Loved her Life, Her Children & Family !!  I and the rest of my Family will miss her Dearly !!  My Mother leaves her Son Robert Grossman, my Brother Michael Grossman passed in ’93 & is waiting for her. A Host of cousins, Barbara Langston & Family, Jacqueline Harrell & family, Laurie James & Family, My Uncle Reginald Thomas & Family & a host of other Family !  Please keep my Mother in your thoughts & Prayers !  And my Family will do the same for you ALL as well !      Thank You & May God Bless You…..
