Raymond Anthony Eden

Bogota

On August 3rd , 2025, at the age of 77, Raymond Anthony Eden, a proud veteran, dedicated professional, and beloved member of the Bogota community, passed away.

Born in New York, NY, on June 16th, 1948, Ray was the son of the late Walter and Helen Eden and the brother of the late Robert Eden. He was raised in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, and graduated from Ridgefield Park Memorial High School in 1967.

Soon after graduation, Ray answered the call to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Army. From 1968 to 1970, he served with distinction in the Vietnam War as a member of the 1st Cavalry Division. Ray believed in good virtues and patriotism. These values and his loyalty to his fellow soldiers were lifelong hallmarks of his character. His courage and dedication to duty left a lasting impression on all who served alongside him.

After returning home, Ray built a long successful career with Verizon, where he worked for over 40 years as a network engineer. Known for his technical expertise and dependable nature, he was recognized as a true telephone pioneer and earned the respect and admiration of his peers and colleagues.

Ray made Bogota his home for the past 3 decades, becoming a familiar and cherished figure in the town. He was often seen walking his beloved Labradors throughout the neighborhood, always ready with a wave, a kind word, or a moment of conversation. His generosity, humor, and neighborly spirit made him a friend to many and a staple in the community.

Though he outlived his immediate family, Ray built a lasting family of friends and neighbors who will remember him with deep affection. His life was marked by service, dedication, and a heartfelt connection to those around him.

Rest in peace, Ray. Your watch is over, but your legacy lives on in our hearts. Although your footsteps may no longer echo through the streets of Bogota, your spirit will always walk beside us.

Visiting will be at Petrik Funeral Home in Bogota on Wednesday August 13th, 2025 from 2-4pm & 6-8pm. 
There will be a funeral mass at St. Joseph's RC Church, 115 E Fort Lee Rd, in Bogota on Thursday August 14th, 2025 at 10am. Interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. 
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to a veterans’ charity or local animal shelter, causes close to Ray's heart.
