Ronald D. Gibney passed away in his sleep on January 21, 2026. Ron was born and raised in Ridgefield Park, NJ. He is predeceased by his Father, George (Hank); his Mother, Edith (nee Schaeffer); his Brother, George Gibney; his Father-in-law, William, his Mother-in-law, Helen, his Sisters-in-law, Patricia and Kathleen Duffy, and most recently his Cousin and good friend, John Hackett.

Ron was a graduate of Ridgefield Park High School, Class of 1965, and went on to study engineering and architecture at the Pratt Institute. He lived a life defined by family, faith, service, and dedication to his community.

For more than 40 years, Ron was an active and devoted member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Bogota. During that time, he served in numerous leadership and board positions, including as a leader of the youth ministry, and logistics manager for the annual festival and carnival. Ron was a proud lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus following in his Father’s footsteps serving as a Grand Knight. His faith and commitment to guiding young people were central to his life.

Ron also gave selflessly to public service. He served as Captain of the Bogota Ambulance Squad and was instrumental in the youth squad program, mentoring and supporting future volunteers, and making friends that would last a lifetime. His passion for helping others extended to coaching youth sports and serving as Scoutmaster of Troop 106 in Teaneck, where he helped shape the lives of countless young people through leadership, responsibility, and example.

In addition to his service, Ron was a lifelong entrepreneur. He owned and operated several businesses throughout his life, reflecting both his work ethic and versatility. These included a hair salon he proudly ran alongside his wife, Noreen and dear friend, June Reynolds; a contracting business with his best friend, Tom Richard; and most recently, a home inspection business he built in partnership with his son, Ron. His entrepreneurial spirit was rooted in integrity, craftsmanship, and pride in providing for his family.

Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Noreen Gibney (née Duffy); his son Ron Gibney and his wife Claudia, their son Andrew; his daughters Stacey Foley and her husband John, and their children Luke and Emily; and Melissa McLaughlin, her partner Rich Ellard, and her daughter Elizabeth McLaughlin, along with Elizabeth’s father, Dan McLaughlin; as well as his son Scott

Gibney, his wife Rachel, and their children Logan and Layla. Ron is also survived by his Sister, Janet Higdon, Sister-in-law, Gerri Gibney and countless nieces and nephews he loved dearly.

Ron will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to family, faith, and community, and for the many lives he touched through his service, mentorship, and quiet generosity.
