Cora A. Zakrzewski

On November 10, 2022, Cora A. Zakrzewski (nee Rowan), 84, of Bogota, NJ passed away. She was born in Brooklyn, NY and grew up in Lindenhurst, NY. She graduated from Kingston Nursing School in 1959 as a Registered Nurse. With her husband Frank “Zak” and daughter Kim, they moved into Bogota in 1968.  Cora attended Jersey City State College and graduated in 1977 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching. She worked as a nurse for 41 years, employed at various hospitals and nursing homes, including Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, with the last four years with Bergen County Head Start.  She was a volunteer member of the Bogota Board of Health and Mid-Bergen Regional Health Commission for over 40 years with the last several years as Vice President before recently retiring. Cora was an active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.  She was one of the founding members of Trinity Lutheran School as the Nurse in 1982 and Board Member since 2006. She loved to swim and was a member of the Bogota Swim Club for over 40 years.  Cora spent her days caring for her grandchildren and their cousins Bridgette, Bobby, Kaelin and Lila. She attended weekly Prayer Shawls with Nancy Markowski and other members from various Lutheran Churches. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed hobbies, such as quilting and crocheting, and loved teasing her brain with Sudoku books. Beloved daughter of George and Sara (nee Hunter) Rowan, dear sister of the late Norma (nee Rowan) Pritts and the late William Henry Rowan.   Beloved wife of the late Francis “Frank” Zakrzewski and devoted mother of Kim Pulido and her husband Troy. Loving grandmother of Brendan, Meghan and Rachel. Visiting Monday 4-8pm at Petrik Funeral Home. Funeral Service Tuesday, 10am, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bogota. Cremation Private.
