Hegel, Helen M., lovingly known as Ellen, nee Zanne, 81 of Bogota, passed away peacefully, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in New York on November 27, 1940. Ellen and her husband settled on Fairview Avenue in Bogota in 1965. Ellen worked as the Treasurer for the Borough of Bogota having retired in 2014 after making many lifelong friendships. She was an active parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Bogota. Ellen enjoyed spending weekends at the Jersey Shore with her family, caring for her grandchildren and taking walks with her dogs around Bogota. Ellen’s kind spirit will always be remembered and cherished by all she touched. Predeceased by her loving husband, Raymond D. Hegel. Survived by her son, Andrew K. Hegel, his wife Debra, her daughters, Mary Ann Gray, and her husband Billy, Ellen Marie Fant, and her husband David. Adored Nanny by her eight beautiful grandchildren, Matthew & Andrew Hegel, Billy, Patrick, & Ella Gray, Alexa Rae, Jaclyn & David Fant. Her devoted sister, Catherine Gallagher, and her brother and sister in law, Joseph & Helene Hegel. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Henry & Mary Zanne, sister and brother in law, Lorraine & Daniel DiArchangel, brother in law, William Gallagher, brother, Edward Zanne, and brother in law Kenneth Hegel. Also Ellen’s faithful dogs Sambuca and Buddy who she adored with her whole heart. Ellen’s family embraces your prayers, love and support. The funeral will leave Petrik Funeral Home, 140 Palisade Avenue, Bogota Thursday at 9:30 for the funeral Mass at St. Joseph's RC Church at 10. Interment Madonna Cemetery, Ft. Lee. Visiting Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9pm
