Beloved matriarch Mary Winifred Scolaro (formerly Scullion, Garland), age 95, passed peacefully on February 9, 2023. Mary was born on January 17, 1928, in the Coytesville section of Fort Lee, NJ. Daughter of the late Charles and Kathleen Scullion, sister of the late James “Buddy” Scullion and Eileen & Charles “Sonny” Lind. Widow of the late James “Papa Jimmy” Scolaro. Formerly married to the late John “Barney” Garland (Jack). She is survived by her brother, Edmund & Susan Scullion. Her son, John J. “G Dude” (Jack) & Sharon Garland, her daughter, Kathleen “Koo” Kazmierczak. Her stepdaughter, Anita Coe. Her grandchildren, John T. Garland (Jack) & Rajka Liberti, Tara Kathleen & Julian Garcia, Edward & Jennifer Kazmierczak, Daniel Kazmierczak & Kathryn O’Connell, Kyle Kazmierczak & Mia Bajlovic. Her great-grandchildren, Abigail Mary Garcia, John R. Garland (Jack), Madison, Ryan, Ethan & Thomas Kazmierczak. Her niece & nephews, Tracey & Matthew Scullion & Charles Lind. Adopted grandmother to Daniel & Ariah Liberti, Savanah Ala, Michael, Jason, and Timmy Coe. Formerly a well-respected Lunch Aide for Little Ferry Public Schools and a cherished host & server for the former Cleo’s Restaurant in Secaucus. She enjoyed spending many summers on Colombia Lake in Deposit, NY. Proud of her Irish heritage, Mary loved St. Patrick’s Day and all things green. She was the life and love of any party and was always looking to celebrate happy times with family. She was an avid fan of Elvis Presley, President John F. Kennedy, and the Police Pipes & Drums of Bergen County, often seen dancing in the center of the band’s circle at performances. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many, and she will be dearly missed. The family will receive friends Monday, from 10-1pm, at Petrik Funeral Home. Funeral service at 12noon. Interment Maple Grove Park Cemetery, Hackensack.
