Rosemarie Fiske Obituary

On Thursday December 10, 2020, Rosemarie Fiske, loving wife and mother of four children, passed away at the age of 89.

Rose was born August 31, 1931 in Jersey City, NJ to Edward and Rose Ciechanowski.  On May 11, 1958, she married Cornelius Edward Fiske.  Together they raised their four children Donna, Neal, Bette and Bill.  Rose was a legal secretary for a local law firm in Jersey City before marrying.  And later was a medical receptionist for Dr Morris Y. Mintz in Paramus NJ.

Rose had a passion for people.  Anyone who knew her was drawn to her infectious personality that would brighten any room she entered.  Her smile and laughter, and ever-optimistic view of the world caused her circle of friends to be fathomless.  During her retirement with Neal in Myrtle Beach, SC, Rose enjoyed many activities, including interior design, the singing club, and even golf.  But it was always her family that was her first priority and spending time with her children and grandchildren, fulfilled her the most.

Rose faced many obstacles during her life.  She was a remarkable woman who challenged the restrictions she was faced with physically, and brought strength, resilience and determination to her efforts at recuperation from a devastating stroke in 1996.  For 24 years, she proved to be an indomitable force, and maintained her spot as the matriarch of our family.  Rose loved to color, play bingo and did a fair amount of traveling up and down the east coast to visit her children and play with her grandchildren.  She also loved to give her great grandson rides on the back of her wheelchair!  Always the life of the party, and yet confined to that wheelchair, she enjoyed showing off her mad dance moves.  The way in which she navigated the last two decades of her life was inspiring, exhibiting superb grace and beauty, and a never-ending amount of positivity, laughter and fun.  She was a wonderful example for our family and friends of just how to live life to the fullest!

Rose was preceded in death by her husband Neal and her daughter Donna Marie.  She is survived by her son Neal and his wife Lauren, daughter Bette and her husband Ken Kral, and son Bill and his wife Claire.  She is the loving grandmother of Kristina Gulla, NJ and Marc Fiske, Ken and his wife Amanda Kral, Kimberly Kral and her partner Charlie Anderson, and Billy and Michael Fiske.  Adoring great grandmother of Owen Kral.

There will be a funeral mass held at St Joseph RC Church in Bogota NJ on Friday December 18, 2020.  Visitation will be at Petrik Funeral Home in Bogota NJ on Thursday December 17th from 4-7pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Island Nursing Home in Deer Isle Maine would be appreciated. https://www.islandnursinghome.org/nonprofit-donation
